Top Picks for Small Designer Handbags

Chloe Mini Drew

A few months ago, I had a fashion revelation. [insert dramatic pause]. I decided that I needed to incorporate more small handbags into my wardrobe.

Traditionally, I’d consider myself a large handbag “I always gets a backache” kind of girl, but there is definitely something to be said about being able to fit all of your essentials into one compact place.

Earlier this summer, I invested in this surprisingly versatile bright red Chloé Mini Drew Shoulder Bag, and it’s been my go-to for every weekend night out.  It perfectly fits my iPhone, lipstick, sunglasses, and a small wallet, and in my opinion, on a “normal” day, that’s really all I need. When I decided that I wanted to build upon my small bag collection, I spent quite a bit of time researching the best options. What I love most about these bags is that they can be worn crossbody or on your shoulder; it’s great to have options depending on your outfit or activity.

To save you some googling time, I’ve rounded up my favorite small – but certainly not any less fabulous – bags!

For years, I contemplated adding the Chloé Small Marcie Bag to my collection, and while there’s still something that attracts me to its boho-chic style, the Drew is really more compatible with my wardrobe. The chain strap makes this a great choice for evening, but I think it looks amazing for daywear, too. It’s elegant, but still fun, and beyond the Red, I’m loving the Motty Grey color it currently comes in.

Saint Laurent Camera Bag

Cute and compact, the camera bag comes in several colors and I’m a sucker for the YSL insignia on the front. This bag has been sold-out everywhere, so a great Saint Laurent alternative would be the Blogger Bag, which offers the same shape with the addition of a tassel.

Gigi New York Chelsea Crossbody

I am a big fan of Gigi New York, partly because I am a sucker for anything personalized & hot stamped, but mostly because they make such great, classic pieces at a very reasonable price point. The Chelsea is sleek and slim, comes in so many amazing hues (the Cobalt and Azure colors immediately catch my eye) AND better yet, it can be transformed into a clutch because the strap detaches. LOVE multi-purpose bags!

Gucci Soho Disco Bag

This is a super practical AND roomy option that literally comes in any color you could imagine! There’s something that is super relaxed and casual about this bag, and I love the tassel on the zipper.

Cuyana Mini Saddle Bag

I love that this Italian-made bag comes in leather and suede as well as a multitude of great colors! The price doesn’t give you sticker shock, and the quality and structure of the bag is outstanding.

Chanel Boy Bag – Small

Measuring only 7.9 inches wide and available in numerous colors and materials (think leather that’s as smooth as butter and Chanel’s signature tweed), the Boy Bag joined the Chanel handbag line in 2012 and became an instant classic. With its sleek and structured silhouette and distinguishable chain strap, this bag is at the top of my small handbag wish list.

    Hey girl,
I too just realized that I needed more smaller handbags in my ever-growing handbag collection. I just recently picked up two cognac and red colored crossbody handbags with tassels and gold chain straps. I got them on clearance at Target and the brand is Merona. They were a great buy and they are big enough to hold my wallet, cell phone, pens, etc. I like to use them for running errands and going shopping. Keep up the great work.😊

Those sound beautiful! I don’t own any congac colored handbags; that is stunning color, especially during the winter! Crossbody handbags are the best – so great for everyday and vacation!
