Where to Pick Your Own Flowers in Massachusetts

As a New Englander, there are SO many ways to enjoy the fall. From apple picking and visiting the pumpkin patch to enjoying copious amount of apple cider donuts and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, I love embracing this season!

While most Bostonians venture outside the city on the quest to find the perfect apple orchard, I like taking trips to the suburbs to find new places where you can pick your own fall flowers. What can I say? I love fresh blooms! There are actually several local farms that allow visitors into their fields to spend time picking flowers. During the month of September, brightly colored zinnias, sunflowers, and wildflowers decorate the fields, and it’s so much fun to walk through the flowers and cut your favorites!

If you’re also a fan of flowers and have never had the opportunity to visit a farm and pick your own, there’s no better time than in the fall, especially in New England! While everyone else is fighting over apples in crowded orchards, I recommend enjoying a crisp sunny day wandering through gorgeous blooms…you won’t be disappointed!

The A-Lyst for Where to Pick Your Own Flowers Near Boston

Parlee Farms

Located near the Merrimack River in Tyngsboro, Parlee Farms is an easy 45 minute drive from Boston, and once you see their beautiful fields of zinnias, you’ll be in love! The staff supplies you with a tin bucket and pair of scissors and then you’re off to spend as little or as much time as you want among the flowers. I had the hardest time choosing between the endless array of color options; every zinnia was so beautiful and vibrant! At $9.99 per pound (which is a TON of flowers!), you can create the most stunning bouquet or arrangement and have the best time doing it! Before you leave, don’t miss the animal farm, pumpkin patch, and delicious cider donuts. TIP: bring some water and paper towels to wrap the flowers in for the ride home!  98 Farwell Road, Tyngsboro, MA 01879

Small Farm

This quaint Stow farm allows visitors to pick their own veggies, herbs, and of course, flowers! I love the farm’s ever-changing and very diverse selection of flowers. In autumn, they have gorgeous sunflowers (including black sunflowers!), deeply colored amaranth, zinnias, and more. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a container to fill with the flowers you pick and are encouraged to put in as many blooms as possible for just $7.00. If you’re looking for a fun afternoon and way to achieve an instant floral arrangement (perfect for a housewarming gift or to brighten up your own counter!), Small Farm is where you should head. 184 Gleasondale Road, Stow, MA 01775

Land’s Sake Farm

As one of the closest “pick your own flower” farms to Boston, Land’s Sake in Weston is an easy (and fun!) escape from city life. Pack your own container and choose your favorite variety of fresh flowers at 50 cents a stem. In September, the farm boasts marigolds, gomphrena, salvia, snapdragons, and more, and well as fresh herbs like cilantro and dill. Throughout the season, Land’s Sake hosts floral-specific events where you can head into the field with professional florists, pick your flowers, and learn how to make your own beautiful arrangement. I’d recommend following their Facebook page for the latest news and happenings. 90 Wellesley Street, Weston, MA 02493

Indian Head Farm

This Berlin farm is incredibly picturesque. With its quintessential bright red barn and endless fields of veggies, fruit, and flowers, you’ll want to spend the whole day exploring its grounds. Before you head into the field to create your personalized bouquet, the farm will provide you with a container and scissors for easy collecting. I love how there is always a different selection of flowers available and if I lived nearby, I would constantly be visiting the farm to freshen up my florals! If you love the idea of “picking your own,” the farm is also worth a summer visit to pick your own strawberries and blueberries! 232 Pleasant Street, Berlin, MA 01503
