Favorite $1 Oyster Specials in Boston

As the summer season winds down, I plan to enjoy as many oysters and cool glasses of rosé as possible. With one oyster, I am instantly transported to an oceanside retreat with salty breezes and waves crashing…ok, maybe not that extreme, but you get the point.

Oysters are one of my favorite foods, but at $3+ a pop, this so-called seaside sensation does not come cheaply; so, unless I want to lighten my wallet every time I have the craving for oysters (which, I will admit, is fairly often), I’ve become quite the bargain-hunter when it comes to $1 oyster specials around Boston. I decided to round up my favorite spots for “happy hour” oysters in Boston, so you can enjoy a little raw bar action, too!

The A-Lyst for Boston’s Best $1 Oyster Specials

FullSizeRender-4Cinquecento

This Italian eatery in the South End’s SoWa district offers $1 oysters on its patio, which boasts a bright red container bar and super comfortable, outdoor furniture. We love to pair the oysters with an order of the Ricotta Fresca (warm ricotta, olive oil, grilled bread) and of course, one of their signature cocktails. 500 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118

Russell House Tavern

My kind of night cap: $1 oysters and one of this Harvard Square restaurant’s outstanding craft cocktails. We love coming here after a night out to enjoy a final drink and a dozen oysters at the bar. 14 JFK Street, Cambridge, MA 02138

Precinct Kitchen + Bar

Located on the lower level of the Loews Boston Hotel, Precinct is a great option for after work oysters, cocktails, and…cheese! Yes, beyond $1 oysters, the restaurant also offers a cheese happy hour where you can score one of their cheese boards for 1/2 off. My favorite part of Precinct is their outdoor patio, which is tastefully adorned with white bulb lights strung across the top as well as TVs for airy sports-viewing. 154 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA 02116

Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar

On Monday evenings, this popular Southie spot serves up $1 oysters all night long. I also love their Fried Oyster Tacos and Carne Asada Tacos, and will never miss ordering the Coco Margarita, which is the perfect combination of refreshing coconut and tequila! 412 West Broadway, South Boston, 02127

Boston Chops

Every Sunday, 3pm-5pm (year-round), this sleek South End steakhouse offers $1 oysters in its bar/lounge area. Since this time period is between their brunch and dinner service, the menu is limited to raw bar items only. To quell your hunger, order a few of their signature Bloody Marys alongside two dozen oysters, and you’ll be feeling fine! 1375 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118

Bar Boulud

This Parisian-style bistro and wine bar is the perfect place to enjoy oysters after work or during a mid-week shopping spree on Newbury Street. The restaurant offers weekday $1 oysters from 2pm-6pm, so it’s ideal for an afternoon pick-me-up. One of my favorite aspects of this bustling Boylston Street restaurant is its extensive wine list. Ask the sommelier for a recommendation on what will pair well with the oysters…he won’t steer you wrong! 776 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02199
